"Jesus is far from the truth, jackass.  It's mind control.  You vote their way, donate money, recruit more stooges for a ________ and the pedaphile dude in the smock says you'll go to heaven.

What assurances do you have?  None.  The church fears loss of control, hence the bible beating.  Try making your own decisions."

    ________________________________________________________

I tend to agree with this view point.  Religion is in many ways similar to a gang.  To be a part of it, you contribute your share and go out to recruit more in order to strengthen your numbers.  Behind it all, is the idea of strength in numbers - an old idea proven true.  To keep things unified and working in this dynamic, ideas of right and wrong are formed.  In most instances, these ideas are common sense, though some practices arise out of a communal consensus.

Thus, the word of "god" is derived from the will of men; men incapable of excercising their will on their own, so thus hide behind the frabication of a super-being - a "god."

Therefore, "god did not create man.  It was man that created god."

Mythology used to explain what is unknown.  Lies to control.  Yet, also stories to teach.

As much as it is a contrite lie, religion also serves as a medium to quickly and easily teach the ideas of right and wrong, as viewed in the context of the culture.  Should one be raised within the parameters of these values, one can exist within the culture and amongst its peoples.

However, within all humans lies the potential for good.  These are the idealists, the true believers.  Because of their goodness, they surrender themselves to the lie.  Thus, they are blinded to the nature of religion.

I believe there is good in the world.  That one should do what one believes is right.  But I do not believe there is any true reward or justification for it.  Love and kindness do not come with the guarentee of joy.  If anything, such tender emotions can be construed as weaknesses.  And in life, surrounded by predators, weaknesses are exploited.

"Man is bred only to suffer, then die."  And it is his will to share his pain, by causing it.

Some overcome their pain by preventing others from suffering.  Most continue to extort others, hoping to ease their pain.

  • artificially intelligent: ....this is too wierd
    artificially intelligent: deja vu
    (bystander): huh?
    (bystander): what do you mean?
artificially intelligent: (sorry, same situation, except diff. names)
    (bystander): erm
artificially intelligent: wow, life is so, so repetitive.
artificially intelligent: it seems to run in parallel lines
artificially intelligent: what is true in one place, is often true in others
artificially intelligent: we see it with basic human behavior - love, hate, passion, fear
artificially intelligent: we see it in events - the formation of religion, war, farming
artificially intelligent: all around us, human behavior is set to act within a certain parameter
    (bystander): ...
artificially intelligent: leading to the conclusion that as people, we are truly finite
    (bystander): well of course
artificially intelligent: with every entailment of limitation the word carries
    artificially intelligent: aw
    (bystander): lol
    (bystander): what
artificially intelligent: it truly is a beautiful thing
(bystander): did you expect me to argue your point?
    artificially intelligent: no
    artificially intelligent: just a thought
artificially intelligent: that's the point of thinking i think
    artificially intelligent: and teaching
artificially intelligent: so that we need not waste time trudging through the same things over and over
    artificially intelligent: think about it
artificially intelligent: there would be no progress if every generation had to discover fire on its own
artificially intelligent: just simple things like that
artificially intelligent: like playing a video game without a memory card
(bystander): but every generation has to learn how to make fire
(bystander): it's not something that intrinsic
artificially intelligent: you either beat it in one sitting... or you fail and begin anew
    artificially intelligent: no, not intrinsic
    artificially intelligent: but taught
    (bystander): yes
(bystander): but if no one taught them
artificially intelligent: that is self facilitated evolution
(bystander): they'd be force to rediscover it
artificially intelligent: that is man's gift
    (bystander): well ...
    (bystander): evolution's gift
(bystander): man isn't the only one that can teach things
    artificially intelligent: yes yes
artificially intelligent: but he is the only one that can learn and teach so readily
artificially intelligent: through his development of speech
    artificially intelligent: of communication
artificially intelligent: that is the root of all
    artificially intelligent: by speaking
artificially intelligent: we convey our thoughts, feelings, our essence
    artificially intelligent: we share
    artificially intelligent: we mutually gain
    (bystander): so
    (bystander): dont wolves do that?
(bystander): that's what howling is for
    (bystander): and what about gorillas?
artificially intelligent: so the root of progress in the lilam world is communication
    (bystander): yes
artificially intelligent: yes, but can a howl or a roar tell a friend that bad weather is coming
(bystander): but not necessarily by speaking
artificially intelligent: or wear to find food
    artificially intelligent: yes
artificially intelligent: communication is not always verbal
    artificially intelligent: this is communication
(bystander): well ... then dont say speaking
    (bystander): =P
artificially intelligent: this a sharing of thoughts
    (bystander): more of information
artificially intelligent: yes, but it is part of the vernacular
(bystander): i cant see a gorilla sharing his innermost thoughts to another
    (bystander): =P
artificially intelligent: these are not facts
    artificially intelligent: they are thoughts
    artificially intelligent: no
artificially intelligent: but simple things are conveyed
    (bystander): of course they're facts
    artificially intelligent: yes
(bystander): rubbing 2 sticks together to make fire is a fact
artificially intelligent: one 500 lb gorilla could tell another where to sit
artificially intelligent: though i've heard they've many choices
    (bystander): lol
    artificially intelligent: ah
artificially intelligent: thought has tired me out
(bystander): but that's not thought ... that's command
    (bystander): well ...
    artificially intelligent: command
    artificially intelligent: ?
artificially intelligent: i suppose I meant thinking has worn me out
artificially intelligent: one of my few lucid moments
artificially intelligent: i hoped you enjoyed it
    artificially intelligent: they're rare

  • no strength not weakness He sees
innate isolation born of lies of deception of hiding one’s true self
    we are weak soft fleshy
we make shells to protect to guard to hide
we isolate ourselves but not when we love
then we join exclude the world
form new existence in a sea a void a vacuum
He is alone no on has opened their heart to him
This is his attempt to bridge to join to fuse to merge he wants more than existence he wants life
He is part of void he wants to be part of a world not his own but shared
Fun alleviates suffering but does not end it

    Joy Hope
Hope is in existence without joy
Joy is in life without pain but joy is not defined as an absence but of a filling
Joy is the answer to life
The answer to life is not death absence
Answer is more life a presence a filling
That is joy that is what we seek we seek happiness an answer
Not to a question a problem innately alone born that way but not meant that way
Purpose of life is to unite that is why we are sad
    We are alone
